MIRACIELO´S HISTORY

MIRACIELO® inspired in Antigua Guatemala’s windows to heaven

Miracielo is a spirit born from the history and traditions of Antigua Guatemala.

Miracielo’s name honors its convents and monasteries: ceilings revealed by the many earthquakes which hit Antigua Guatemala through the centuries and remain untouched.

Miracielo is a literal translation of looking to the sky (Mirar al Cielo).

Secrets of Antigua Guatemala

Miracielo was born as an artisanal spirit that was popular in Antigua Guatemala  centuries ago.
However, the Santa Marta earthquakes in 1773 buried the recipe in the convent where it was produced. Years later, between 1828 and 1840, the Gonzales family founded La Industria Licorera Antigüeña on the site that was previously the convent of Santa Teresa and found a series of elements, including the recipe, written on a parchment protected with a leather ring.

This is how the recipe came back to life in 1953.
